Digital Point is an Internet marketing forum board. I have been a member for a while, but only recently have been spending a considerable amount of time on the forum boards posting for backlinks and pitching my offers.

So far, I have sold two items a website and an ebook. The website was my PersonalDevelopmentAudioBook blog. That was my baby, but I didn’t have the time to put into developing the site so I sold it on ebay.

I was bringing in about $15/month in Adsense revenue and sold for $50, $130 less than what I wanted for it, but not bad for my first flip on the DP forums.

From that experience, I’ve learned that buyers want to see screen shots of Google Analytics and earnings when it comes to websites.

The second item is an ebook I wrote last night and and posted today. It’s about 12 pages long and outlines a service I perform for $79 and takes only 15 minutes.

For ebooks, particularly money making ebooks, Digital Point members want to see proof of earnings, a low start-up cost, and they want to know that the market isn’t saturated.

Be prepared to give out 2-3 review copies. Digital Point members want to see unbiased reviews from other Digital Point members.

Finally, make sure your products are Internet marketing related as this is likely all the members their would be interested in.

In this blog post, I want to tell you about one of my businesses in which I make $79 for a service that only takes just 15 minutes of my time.

The service involves me setting up a domain and web hosting then activating a do-it-yourself website builder for people wanting a website that they can maintain on their own.

Most cpanel hosting offers such a web site builder. Some have better features and are more user-friendly than others.

One of the web hosting companies I use for certain projects has a more user-friendly website builder and has 300 templates while the website builder for my own web hosting company is not quite as user friendly but has over 800 templates.

When someone purchases a website package from me, I simply register the domain name they want, create a web hosting account, set the name servers, activate the website builder, and transfer ownership of the domain name over to the customer.

The entire process takes me only about 15 minutes. However, it may take you 30 minutes to an hour, if you are not already familiar with the process of setting up websites. If you have the skills, you can even offer additional services such as script installation, logo design, website promotion, etc.

I promote my service on ebay as well as on a website, and there are a ton of other ways to promote such a service (forums, Yahoo Answers, Elance, etc).

As long as you are willing to learn how to setup a domain and webhosting and promote the business you can have an instant business setting up website’s for small business owners.

Well what if I told you that my customers are paying me $50 a pop on ebay for a product that is freely available on the Internet? Athough I am not dumb enough to reveal what that product is, I will give you the framework, so you can go out and do the same with your own niche.

Obviously, I am talking about an information product here. There is tons of value out there on the Internet, but it is too cluttered for the average person to sift through and find the diamonds. If you are willing to trim the fat, other people will pay you for the meat. That’s what my system is built on.

You want to find an online product or service that people in your niche commonly pay for, then find someone who is offering their own version of that product or service for free, and charge a fee to reveal that information to your niche via an information product (report, video, audio, email course, etc.)

The product can be an online utility, software program, screen savor, membership site. Anything that can be accessed online or burned to a cd. Yes, it takes some thorough searching, but those $566/month niches are out there. You just have to do the grunt work of finding them and repackaging them in the form of an information product.

While that does work, to a degree, there are more advanced methods that could be way more effective. One of these is: Leverage.

Even if you have no introduction whatsoever to leverage, you’ll find that you can use your blog as part of a plan that uses it to perfection. In fact, the only thing you need (apart from your blog, of course!) is an eBook product of your own. Without your own product you’ll find that you can carry out this plan in different ways – but it won’t be as effective.

So let’s say you have an eBook. Were you to just go about marketing the ‘normal’ way via your blog, you’d probably dedicate a post or two to it, and maybe even set up a sales page. However, you’re not going to do that. Instead, you’re going to take that eBook and extract a chapter that you feel is particularly interesting, and make it into a 10 page report or so.

Now you have two products: An eBook and a report. From that report, you can then create blog posts that talk about various topics that are covered in the report itself. Try to aim for around 5 or so. Each of these blog posts should be aimed at eventually leading the reader to the report itself, which you’re going to be giving away for FREE when your readers sign up to your list.

Basically, this means that when people read your blog posts, they’ll have the option of finding out more by simply signing up to your list and downloading the report for free. In the report, there should also be an option to find out even more by purchasing your eBook!

See how you’re now using a linear plan for marketing?

Truth be told, you could branch things out even further, and create various other blog posts from your eBook itself to promote both the report and eBook. By not promoting the eBook directly though, you’re going to be simply ‘providing value’ to your readers, and it is far less likely to come off as simply trying to palm products off onto them.

At the same time, you’ll be building your list and starting to be able to market more and more products as and when you come up with them.

Using this strategy, you should be able to pull in far more profits from your blog simply by maximizing the effectiveness of your marketing. That in itself will set you apart from the minnows of the marketing world, and let you swim with the big fish!

But you should realize that there is a vast difference between using a blog to market a single product, and turning a blog into a full fledged business model. Depending on your prior experience, you may find that this is quite easy to do – however, the majority of online marketers (especially beginners) would not.

Anyway, the trick to turning your blog into an actual online business is to look at it from multiple angles and ensure that each and every aspect of your blog is properly sorted out to perfection. If you wish to do that, these are the areas that you should be glancing over:

1. Traffic

More traffic means more potential customers, which means more possible sales. As such, traffic is without a doubt the first thing that you need to be concerned about – it’s what will sustain your business. Fortunately, blogs are great traffic magnets, so as long as you’re posting regular (and valuable!) content as well as pursuing other traffic generation means, you should have few problems.

2. Niche Research

Almost all the blogs run by beginners end up being ‘niche interest’ sites. To take this a step further, you need to firmly distance yourself from that image and start to become a ‘niche authority’. For this to happen, you’ll really have to know your niche inside out – and that means research. Course, there are many ways in which you could carry out this research, and honestly the best way is to simply talk to people in your niche.

By figuring out the problems, needs, and desires of the people within your niche, you’ll then be able to cater your blog specifically to them, and that will slowly but surely transform your blog into an authority on the matter. Other things, such as having your own product line, also help – but that’s a different story altogether!

3. Product Lines

Marketers market products. Businesses create and then market products. Having your own product lines is not just profitable, but it will also boost your image and authority (as we mentioned just a minute ago!). Multiple product lines will allow you a lot of other options too, such as leveraging, which will undoubtedly help.

4. Business Plan

End of the day, the final discerning characteristic of a business is that you need to have a business plan. Everything that we’ve talked about so far must be planned out and linked together – along with other things too. Basically, you need to know where you’re going to get your potential customers (i.e. traffic), what you’re going to market to them, how you’re going to market to them, and how you’re going to continue marketing to them (possibly list building!).

Take into account all of this, and you should be able to profit from your blog as a full fledged business model, and maybe even earn thousands and thousands of dollars a month like the true professionals do!

Truth is, if you’re set on making as much cash as you can from your blog, you’re going to need to ensure that you’ve covered all your bases and are tweaked them so that every aspect of your money making process is performing in tip top condition.

How do you do that? Well, the best place to start is to look at each ingredient of a successful money making blog individually:

1. Traffic

More traffic normally means more sales. At least, it definitely means more potential customers which in turn means that you should be making more sales than previously. Course, traffic is a very wide topic and there are countless ways in which you could generate it – so what you need to do is pursue as many of these as possible.

While you’re at it you should also be aware that you’re looking for as highly targeted traffic as you can. Using keywords, you should find that you’re able to achieve this well.

2. Conversion Rates

How many of the potential customers that visit your blog actually end up buying stuff from it? In a nutshell, that’s your conversion rate (though it is normally measured as a percentage, i.e. X% meaning X sales per 100 potential customers). Ensuring that your conversion rate is as high as possible is an extremely good idea because it means that you’re going to be taking advantage of more of your traffic.

By capitalizing on as much of your traffic as possible, you’ll be getting the most out of your efforts, and not ‘wasting’ any of the traffic you’ve worked so hard to obtain.

3. Repeat Customers

Having made the effort to clinch a sale with one customer, it would be a crying shame if you simply let them leave and never hear from them again. Seeing as they’ve already bought something from you it means that they are interested in the niche that you’re in, and more importantly – they’re willing to buy products in that niche!

So if you could just take down their details, you should be able to turn them into repeat customers (or at least stand a good chance of doing so).

Yes, we’re talking about list building, though nowadays using things such as Twitter can be just as good. End of the day, the choice is yours so long as you’re able to set up some system whereby you can continue to market to your proven buyers.

If you’re able to take care of each and every one of these key ingredients, you’ll quickly find that you’re able to turn your own blog into a successful money making blog too!
