Have you been pimp smacked by Google yet?
If you haven’t heard by now, I don’t know what rock your living under, but it doesn’t matter because Google will find you there.
Google’s ranking algorithm change has driven people out of business. Online marketers who were bringing in 4 and 5 figures found themselves smacked back down to ground 0.
Google has eliminated many listings from their normal search results in an attempt to penalize websites that try to punk Google by stealing or mass publishing content.
As we all know, Google hate’s duplicate content, but what they haven’t taken into consideration are those that are legitimately using duplicate content. For example, the algorthm change has greatly affected online retailers, who rely on the manufacturers descriptions for the products on their website.
Now, in order to gain visibility in the search engines. These retailers must completely re-write their product descriptions and this could be thousands of products for some retailers.
So how do you fight back?
Well, unless you are the Goliath of the Internet, I wouldn’t recommend fighting this giant, because you will lose.
A mentor of mine, had a good point. Don’t rely solely on Google for all your traffic. Integrate numerous traffic sources in your online business, so the changes made by Google (just because it’s Tuesday) won’t kill your business overnight.
It’s as simple as that.
